Then when you consider the cost of possibly life-long rehabilitation, that number goes up exponentially.
In the vent that a person has burns over more than one-third of their body, then the cost just for their initial hospital stay can be as much as $250,000 – and that doesn’t even include the physicians’ fees. Add to that the numerous reconstructive surgeries that will likely be required, plus rehabilitation, plus repeatedly being admitted to the hospital. As you can imagine, this can easily be as much as $1 million or more – and that’s without taking pain and suffering into account.
