Document and Information to Bring To a Free Case Evaluation with a Personal Injury Attorney

There are many people out there who’ve never worked with an attorney. They are understandably nervous when they come visit us at Law Offices of Fernando D. Vargas for their free case evaluation. This is already a difficult time for you, as you recover from your injuries or from the death of a loved one. Working with an attorney is a step toward getting the compensation you deserve but we understand that it can be nerve wracking.

We encourage you to call us at 909-982-0707 with any questions you have about your free case evaluation. However, we’ve also created this blog to list some of the most common things we’d like to see at a consultation. Note that every situation is different and even if you bring none of the things listed below, we are here to help. Read on and then call us to schedule your consultation.

What exactly happens at a free consultation?

Every consultation is different because they’re handling different cases. As you can imagine, a case involving an amputation may be very different than a wrongful death case. That said, you can expect that we will get the basic facts about the situation from you. We’ll also answer the most pressing questions you have.

Write down your questions before coming in

It happens all the time: People come to see us and forget everything they wanted to ask. For this reason, they recommend that you write down your questions and bring them with you. We want to answer as many questions as we can but we can’t answer questions you don’t ask.

Bring any documentation involving your accident

If you have letters, settlement offers, documents, or any other type of communication that has to do with your accident then we want to see it. The more information we have, the better able we will be to represent your rights.

If you have photos or diagrams – bring them

If you were able to take photos at the scene of the accident, make sure you bring those. If you weren’t able to do so, but you have photos of injuries or property damage, bring those instead. Even a diagram of the location of the accident can help us better understand what happened.

Once we’ve had a chance to go over the basics facts of your case, we’ll give you the chance to ask any questions you have. If we believe you have a case then we will share with you our opinion on what your best options will be. You can then decide if you’d like to work with us. There is no cost for this consultation.

You don’t pay anything upfront

Not only is the consultation free but we don’t charge you anything upfront. You won’t owe attorney’s fees, filing fees, the cost of experts, etc. until you win your case. If you win, then we’ll get a pre-agreed upon percentage of your award. If we don’t win your case for you, then you owe us nothing. As you can see, this is a huge incentive for us to win your case and get the highest possible award.
