A recent accident could have been prevented

The fatal Los Angeles accident has been blamed on both street racing and drunk driving. According to officials, a 38-year-old man was seen racing down the street. Police estimate that his speed was as much as 90 miles per hour. He hit a vehicle drive by a 62-year-old man, who died as a result of his car accident injuries.

Once the speeding driver’s vehicle hit that 62-year-old man, it hit several other vehicles. In total, there were seven vehicles involved in the accident. While the 62-year-old man was the only fatality, several other people were injured.

The police arrested the 38-year-old man and gave him a sobriety test. It’s likely surprising to few people that it turned out he was indeed intoxicated. It should be noted that he was racing another vehicle, and the driver in that vehicle says he was trying to get away from the vehicle. The police are considering the evidence to determine if this is true.

Street racing is illegal for a reason: It’s dangerous. It’s negligent to do it and those who engage in it should be held accountable to the full extent that they can be.
